This two hour workshop is designed for the parents/caregivers who want to provide their child with the sensory input needed throughout the day to help them interact appropriately in their environment. Participants will learn why certain activities are used and the desired impact achieved by applying these strategies. A brief discussion of the main sensory systems will also be presented.
Objectives are:
- Be able to immediately apply strategies learned across a variety of environments.
- Understand why and when certain sensory strategies are used and apply that knowledge to your own specific family situation.
- Learn cost effective sensory activities utilizing common household materials.

The Zoowalk will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at The Phoenix Zoo. 100% of the Zoowalk proceeds goes to fund Autism/Asperger?s treatment research at ASU and ARI.
The entire Phoenix Zoo has been reserved for Saturday morning, 7 am to 9
am, on October 22, when the weather should be great.
The goal of the Zoowalk is to:
1. raise money for research on effective treatments for autism spectrum
disorders
2. provide a really fun event for children/adults with ASD and their
friends/family, with no registration fee for walkers (but
donations/sponsorships are welcome!)
Half the funds will go to ASU's Autism Research Program, and half will
go to Bernie Rimland's Autism Research Institute, which funds research
around the world.
